During the school year, which is a part of community life, there are some changes and developments that require careful care and monitoring of the child. Following these changes and developments is one of the most important tasks of both teachers and parents. It is a duty of the school administration to ensure that children receive education by providing them with the best health conditions in these environments where they live collectively and it is necessary to ensure continuity with the support of teachers and families.

School health services are defined by the Ministry of Health as follows;

Evaluating students' health; to educate students and their parents according to the findings; guiding them to correct curable disorders; to help identify and educate children with disabilities; controlling infectious diseases; providing first aid in case of sudden illness and injury; In short, all activities that are carried out to protect and improve the health of school children are called school health services.

Activities to protect and promote health at school:

a. Immunization: Since booster doses of vaccines initiated in infancy are given at school age, it provides convenience to health workers because of the collective availability of students. In our country, first grade primary school students had Td, OPV, measles and PPD (-) BCG; Td is done in the 5th grade of primary school.

b. Nutrition: The school nutrition team should ensure that the nutrition programs of the students are adequate and balanced and comply with the health rules.

c. Investigation of carriers: Screening school staff for hepatitis B, salmonella, tuberculosis is particularly important for schools with canteen or dining hall.

D. Sports events: Sports activities should be supported as they contribute positively to the physical and mental development of the students and reports of non-attendance to physical education classes should be given very carefully.

The advice given by the Ministry of Health to school-age children is as follows;

• Be sure to have breakfast in the morning, do not skip meals. Obtain the habit of drinking milk. For your bone health, make sure to consume milk, cheese and yogurt rich in calcium.
• Drink at least 8-10 glasses of liquid with plenty of vegetables and fruits.
• Remember that food and beverage consumption with high sugar, salt and fat content causes many diseases.
• Take care to consume clean and germ-free food. Never wash raw vegetables and fruits with plenty of water.
• Do not buy food sold outdoors.
• Always wash your hands before eating. Remember that dirty hands carry many disease germs.
