Summary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child from UNICEF Resources, Expressed in the Language of Children

The United Nations Organization, which was established on 24 October 1945 to ensure peace and security in the world, adopted the Bildir Universal Declaration of Human Rights Aralık on 10 December 1948. Article 1: I'm a kid. I have indispensable rights as a child until the age of eighteen.

Article 2: The rights in this convention are for all children; white children, black children, girls, boys. Where we are born, the language we speak does not matter. Children are not discriminated because of the different beliefs and views of our elders. To have these rights, it is enough to be a child.

Article 3: In all laws and initiatives related to children, elders first consider the benefits of children. If our elders cannot do their homework, the state looks after the children and protects them.

Article 4: Every effort is made to enforce our rights. The exercise of my rights is guaranteed by all states.

Article 5: The adults who raise us and guide us are helped to raise us better.

Article 6: Protecting the life of children is the first task of everyone. Living is the basic right of every child.

Article 7: Each child is given a name when he is born. The state registers this name. Gives the child identification. Now the child becomes a citizen of that state.

Article 8: My name, my citizenship and family bonds are protected. No pressure is applied to change them. If these are taken from me, all states will oppose him.

Article 9: No one in the family can take the child. But sometimes parents cannot take care of the child. The child may suffer from this condition. The child is provided with another care so that the child is not harmed.

Article 10: All kinds of convenience are provided for parents and children living in separate countries to live together.

Article 11: Children cannot be taken to other countries without their parents' consent and knowledge. Those who do this are fought.

Article 12: I also take my opinions on matters that concern me. Seniors listen to me. They care to learn my thought. If I'm too small, a great can speak for me.

Article 13: I can express my wishes and thoughts in a way I choose, draw or write their pictures. But if some people are going to get hurt in some areas, I have to follow the rules.

Article 14: The right of us children to develop their thoughts and to choose the religion they want is respected. Our elders who are obliged to educate us on this issue have the right and duty to guide us. They are also respected.

Article 15: I can gather peacefully with my friends. I can establish associations. I can become a member of established associations.

Article 16: Children are honorable and respected people. No one can break their dignity, humiliate them, interfere with their private life in the house and institution where they live. These rights are protected by law.

Article 17: Mass media is important, I can get information for myself by using all kinds of media.

Article 18: Our parents are responsible for our upbringing or the elders who are responsible for them. They are provided with all kinds of convenience and help if necessary.

Article 19: Those responsible for our upbringing do not exercise these rights in a way that could harm children. It is the duty of the state to take every precaution to prevent children from such harm.

Article 20: Children may be deprived of their families. Some family environments may not be useful for children. Children then have the right to special protection and assistance from the state. The state does this task by finding suitable families for the child or by placing them in the care facilities.

Article 21: Children who cannot be with their parents have good families to avoid family deprivation. For this, very careful research is done.

Article 22: If children have to go to another country, that country will also protect them. Separate mother and father are tried to be united.

Article 23: Children with disabilities are privately protected. They are provided with respectable people. The government establishes the necessary institutions for their maintenance, training and employment. It gives every kind of help to their families.

Article 24: My health and protection from diseases are under the guarantee of the state and society. For this, attention is given to not feeding, vaccination, cleaning of the environment. If I get sick, I'il be treated.

Article 25: Kindergartens, day-care centers, dormitories, schools, children's hospitals are rearranged in order to take better care of children in accordance with children's rights.

Article 26: All children's health, education rights, nutrition and care are guaranteed.

Article 27: Those who are obliged to take care of me will be supported and assisted with clothing, shelter and nutrition if necessary to provide me with a better life.

Article 28: I am supported and protected in order to complete my education. Primary education is free for everyone, it is compulsory for every child whether it be a boy or a girl.

Article 29: The state allows me to live in a free society with a spirit of friendship among all people, taking on responsibility.

Article 30: No discrimination is made to the children of the minority group, the state also protects the rights of children from minority groups.

Article 31: Children's gardens, children's clubs, bookcases, sports schools are opened for me to spend my free time, play and have fun. Every child is encouraged to engage in such activities. We all have the right to benefit from them.

Article 32: I'm a kid. I can't work like a grown-up. I go to school and play. If I have to work, my job should not interfere with my education, should not disrupt my health, nor should I create harmful habits.

Article 33: Children are protected against harmful substances. Those who produce them and give them to children are punished.

Article 34: My body belongs to me. No approach is permitted that would violate me physically and spiritually.

Article 35: All states struggle with those who kidnap children and sell them to bad people, who want to employ them improperly. They protect children.

Article 36: Adults cannot use children for their own benefit.

Article 37: No child shall be punished by inhuman or degrading treatment. If children have committed a crime, the punishments to be imposed shall be educational and shall not impede their development.

Article 38: It's bad that people kill each other. War is when people kill each other. Children must be protected from war. No child under the age of 15 is drafted.

Article 39: If children have been harmed for various reasons, all measures are taken to restore their physical and mental health. They are reintegrated into society.

Article 40: Children don't know what crime is. They knowingly and intentionally do not harm anyone. Special laws are enacted and special institutions are formed for the reintegration of children who commit crimes.

Article 41: If a country's laws comply with this child rights convention, it is not amended. If not, it will be replaced.

Article 42: Both children and adults should learn and teach all these principles of children's rights.
