This week, your baby can open and close her hands and curl his toes. Arms and legs still move together at this point.

Exercise can help you feel better. It boosts your mood, improves sleep, reduces aches and pains, and prepares you for childbirth.

Do your research first. Review your employee guidelines to find out your options for maternity leave.

Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements.

Hair and nails

Your baby has ten fingers and ten toes (no more webbing), and peach-fuzz hair begins to grow on tender skin.

Pregnancy symptoms during week 12

Growing uterus

Your uterus has grown to the extent that your healthcare provider can now feel the top of it (the fundus) low in your abdomen, above your pubic bone.

Don't be surprised if you and your partner are feeling stressed out these days. Many pregnant couples worry about their baby's health and how they'll handle the changes ahead. Coping with stress can trigger depression, which is common during pregnancy. If you're suffering from feelings of sadness and hopelessness, take our prenatal depression quiz.

Make a baby budget

Sit down with your partner to discuss how you'll handle all the new expenses – baby clothes, food, diapers, toys, and baby gear can add up fast. Brainstorm where you can trim your budget to make room for your baby's needs.

Stay (or get) active

Exercise helps you develop the strength and endurance you'll need to manage the extra weight you'll be carrying. It may help prevent some of the aches and pains of pregnancy, and it's a great stress reducer.

Stay hydrated

Drinking enough fluids helps prevent common problems in pregnancy such as hemorrhoids, constipation, and bladder infections.
