Ponyo
Story
Fujimoto (voiced by Liam Neeson) is an environmental sorcerer. He stands on a strange-looking submarine (part machine, part sea creature) and pours magical substances into the ocean. This keeps the environment in balance. Fujimoto has a daughter, Ponyo (Noah Lindsey Cyrus). She is a young goldfish with magical powers. Along with hundreds of younger siblings, she lives with her father under the ocean. One day while exploring the ocean, Ponyo is trapped inside a discarded glass bottle and washed ashore. She is found by a five-year-old boy named Sosuke (Frankie Jonas).
Sosuke lives with both his mother Lisa (Tina Fey), who works at a Seniors Centre, and his father Koichi (Matt Damon), who is a ship's captain. As Sosuke breaks open the glass jar to free Ponyo, he cuts his finger, which produces a drop of blood. Ponyo licks it, and Sosuke's finger instantly heals. Sosuke and Ponyo immediately form a bond of love. The friendship is short lived, though, because Fujimoto uses his powers to capture back Ponyo. Sosuke is devastated.
The drop of blood that Ponyo licked gives her strong magical powers. These allow her to transform into a little girl and escape from her father. But Ponyo's use of magic causes an environmental imbalance, resulting in storms, tidal waves, floods and the appearance of prehistoric sea creatures. During a violent storm, Ponyo rides the backs of giant waves as she chases after Sosuke and his mother (who are trying to outrun the storm). Ponyo is eventually reunited with Sosuke when he reaches the safety of his house.
Fearing for the safety of her senior citizens, Sosuke's mother leaves Sosuke and Ponyo at home and goes off to see how they are. The following morning the storm has cleared, but Sosuke's village is submerged in flood waters. Finding no sign of his mother, Sosuke and Ponyo brave the flood waters to search for her. Meanwhile, Fujimoto has contacted Ponyo's mother, the sea goddess Gran Mamare (Cate Blanchett), to help put the planet back in order. Gran Mamare informs Fujimoto that if Ponyo becomes permanently human, the world will return to normal. For this to happen, Sosuke must prove his love for Ponyo.

Myths and legends; environmental disasters
Violence
This movie contains no deliberate interpersonal violence, but there are several scenes where characters are hurt or in danger. For example:
- While trying to escape a trawling fishing net, Ponyo becomes ensnared in a glass jar. Sosuke finds the jar and tries to pull Ponyo out by her tail, then breaks the jar open with a rock. Ponyo at first looks dead but revives quickly.
- Fujimoto is hit in the face by ocean litter and is nearly churned up by a boat's propeller.
- Sosuke's mother Lisa drives her car across a flooded canal crossing, and the car is almost swept into the sea by waves. Her car nearly crashes head on into a van along a winding mountain road.
- Sosuke is nearly blown over a guard rail, but his mother catches him by the feet and pulls him back.
Content that may disturb children
Under 8
In addition to the scenes mentioned above, this movie contains some scenes that could scare or disturb children in this age group. For example:
- Ponyo squirts water in a little girl's face. The girl bursts into tears and runs off crying. Ponyo does the same thing to a senior citizen, who becomes upset and distressed.
- Ponyo's father Fujimoto has a gaunt and threatening appearance.
- Magical water creatures that look like giant black slugs rise up out of the water and chase Sosuke. At one point, they transform into giant waves. Ponyo runs along their backs.
- The slug-like creatures rise up out of the ocean, capture Ponyo and pull her back into the ocean. Sosuke is left crying and distressed on shore.
- Ponyo transforms from a goldfish-like creature to a little girl.
- Sosuke and Ponyo walk through a dark, threatening tunnel. Part way through, Ponyo transforms from a human to a fish-like creature and collapses. Sosuke cries out in distress.
- The sea goddess Gran Mamare is a giant woman, gliding underneath the ocean. She appears on the surface of the water and transforms to normal size.
- Scary-looking prehistoric fish creatures swim around Sosuke and Ponyo as they travel in a boat.
- Hundreds of ships are trapped in a tidal wave.

Ideas to discuss with your children
Ponyo is an animated fantasy movie. It is superbly animated using hand-drawings and watercolours. The movie is likely to be entertaining for children, particularly from 5-7 years, but also for older children and adults. Younger children will find the movie's lead characters (Sosuke and Ponyo) both likable and inspiring.
The main messages from this movie are that:
- Pollution caused by humans is taking its toll on the world's oceans.
- Love conquers all.
- It is best not to judge others by their labels.
- Sometimes we need to take chances and take a giant leap into the unknown.
Values in this movie that you might wish to reinforce with your children include kindness, respect, bravery and empathy.

- disobeying evacuation orders, as Sosuke's mother does
- leaving two small children alone in a house.

How many days of sunshine, so many days of sun protection

How many sunny days will we have this summer?
The new NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive sun protection range helps you enjoy every sunny day, even if you have sensitive skin!
How many sunny days do you think we will have this summer? With May 1, the beautiful sunny days began, and each of us would like to make the most of them. The sun brings with it, in addition to the heat that brings us out of the house, and a very casual state of well-being. "When we are in the sun, we produce less sleep hormones and more serotonin and endorphins, hormones that make us feel calm and happy," says Dr. Katja Warnke, Product Developer at Beiersdorf.
When you have sensitive skin, however, the benefits of the sun are often overshadowed by its unpleasant effects: redness, itching, skin sensation that tightens are just a few of them.
The new NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive adult range offers effective protection for sensitive skin, thanks to the care formula with natural extract of Aloe Vera, without perfume, dyes, preservatives / parabens.
For sensitive skin, less means more
Sensitive skin can react unpleasantly to several external factors. Often, it does not like perfumes, preservatives, alcohol or essential oils and frequently does not tolerate UV radiation.
Her specific reactions do not take into account race, living conditions or geographical area. In a recent survey by Beiersdorf, on a sample of 8,000 people in Europe, Asia and America, nearly two-thirds of respondents described their skin as sensitive. They are charged with up to 20-30% more redness, blemishes, skin sensation, burning and allergic reactions caused by sun exposure.
"People with sensitive skin are more attentive and more easily affected by their skin reactions and perceive a stronger connection between emotional state, external stimuli and sensations in the skin. Especially after a day spent at the beach, people with sensitive skin are more affected of the redness and the sensation of the skin that holds for people with normal skin, "explains Iris Nowaki, international research expert.
"Sensitive skin is characterized by an abnormal reaction to external factors (wind, cold, sun, cosmetic ingredients, water) that are normally well tolerated. The accusations are subjective in the form of varied, generally unpleasant sensations (warmth). , burns, tingling), without being necessarily accompanied by visible changes on the skin surface. Regardless of the skin type, sensitive skin is attacked by UVA and UVB, both being responsible for immediate adverse reactions (sunburn) as well as cumulative adverse reactions on the skin. long term (aging of the skin). I highly recommend the NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive range due to the mineral and chemical filters that provide double protection, while also giving water resistance. Moreover, the lack of dyes, preservatives and perfume make that these products are ideal for the tolerance of sensitive and allergic skin, Aloe Vera providing the necessary hydration, and Vitamin E protecting against stress a said Claudia Teodorescu, NIVEA Expert Dermatologist.
To ensure very high protection, the highly efficient NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive formula contains a combination of powerful and efficient UVA and UVB filters. The protection is guaranteed immediately after application, due to a balanced combination of minerals and filters. They are active even in seawater or in the pool, because the formula is water resistant.
Along with UV protection, the NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive range was created according to the "less mean more" principle. Thus, it does not contain perfumes, dyes or preservatives (or also known as parabens). The natural extract of Aloe Vera gives the skin an additional hydration, and the vitamin E protects against oxidative stress, leaving the skin protected, hydrated and with a pleasant sensation of softness. The fluid texture absorbs quickly into the skin and does not leave it sticky. The formula is tested and dermatologically approved and has a lasting effect, with visible results.
Advanced protection for the little ones
PWhile you want the little one to enjoy natural care, NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive offers you two products specially created for him: NIVEA Sun Kids Pure & Sensitive FPS 50+ lotion and spray. The very high protection factor and the very water-resistant formula provide the children with the optimal protection, so necessary for their delicate skin during sun exposure.
NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive range for adults contains: NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive SPF 30 and 50 lotions and NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive SPF 50 lotions. Children's range contains: NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive SPF 50 lotion, lotion variant Kid's Pocket Size SPF 50 and NIVEA Sun Pure & Sensitive SPF 50 spray.

Did you know that ...
Experts believe that the traditional rule that says you should avoid contact with the sun at 11 a.m. if 3 p.m. it is much too imprecise, considering that the levels of UV radiation vary depending on the geographical region, the season and the time of day. Our own shadow is a good indicator of the radiation level. If the shadow is smaller than our stature, then the intensity of sunlight is too high. When the shadow is reduced to maximum half of our stature, we know that it is a good time to enjoy the sun!
BRONZ or PROTECTION? Now you can have them both!
NEW: NIVEA Spray SUN Protect & Bronze - efficient protection with a simple push
Whether you prefer the moments of relaxation in the mountains, on the beach, in the park or on a deck chair in the yard of the house, the time spent in the sun always has a therapeutic effect, giving you energy and good mood. Moreover, the skin gets a seductive tan, which fits wonderfully with the colorful outfits of summer. But prolonged sun exposure can have extremely unpleasant effects over time, which can compromise skin comfort and health.
To safely enjoy the pleasures of the hot season, NIVEA experts offer you an efficient daily protection solution, without compromising the seductive tan of the skin. NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze formula combines reliable protection with an intense natural tan, without self-tanning. The magic ingredient is the amplifier of the skin's own melanin production called Glycyrrhetinic Acid.
NIVEA SUN is now expanding its Protect & Bronze range with two sunscreens SPF 20 and SPF 30. The new Spray format offers the advantage of efficient protection against UVA / UVB rays and of a quick and intense tan, with easier application and handy.
Intense bronze, completely natural and efficient protection, now with a simple push
With the new NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze sprays, this summer, you have the perfect accessory for the beach, pool or other outdoor activities. With a simple push, you will enjoy all the benefits of sunbathing, without worrying about burns, rosettes or itching sensations. UVA / UVB filters protect against burns and signs of premature aging, keeping the skin smooth and healthy. Its lightweight formula, with rapid absorption, acts immediately, removing the inconveniences of the sticky and oily sensation: the skin remains soft, pleasant to the touch.
Recommended prices:
- NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze Sun Spray SPF 20 (200 ml): 35.44 lei
- NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze Sun Spray SPF 30 (200 ml): 38.66 lei
And if up until now you had to choose between the attractive appearance of the tanned skin and the health of the skin, now you can enjoy without reservation both. Due to the active ingredient Glycyrrhetinic Acid obtained from licorice root extract, the products in the NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze range activate the production of melanin specific to the skin. Naturally, the sun's rays stimulate the production of melanin in the layers of the epidermis, and this substance contributes to obtaining a natural and long-lasting tan, while offering protection against UVA and UVB rays.
Melanin: a natural tanning agent
Bronze is not only a pleasant result of prolonged exposure to the sun, it is a natural reaction of the body to protect the skin from harmful UV rays. When we are in the sun, the body stimulates the production of melanin - the pigment contained in the skin that gives the skin a bronze appearance - in cells called melanocytes, located in the lower layers of the epidermis. These melancholy have the appearance of small octopuses, with long legs.
When the skin is exposed to the sun, an enzyme containing copper, called tyrosinase, is activated in melanocytes. Under the influence of this enzyme, in a multi-step process, the amino acid called tyrosine is converted to melanin pigment. Dispersed in the surrounding cells through melanocytes, melanin begins to play its main role in absorbing ultraviolet radiation and fighting free radicals. When new cells are formed, melanin cells are pushed to the surface of the skin and thus, after a few days, the skin becomes bronze.
The result: Irresistible natural bronze and a protected and healthy skin!
Licorice: more than just a treat for the skin, it is also an active ingredient
There are 23 species of Licorice (or Sweet Wood) and each of these plants has a different active ingredient. Glycyrrhetinic acid present in products from the NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze range, which aids the production of melanin and stimulates the skin tanning process, comes from the European licorice, called glycyrrhiza glabra.
Traditional Chinese medicine uses Chinese licorice (inflated glycyrrhiza) especially for the anti-inflammatory substance called licochalcone, contained in its roots. It is also an active ingredient in range NIVEA SUN SOS After Sun Repair.
"Glycyrrhetinic acid does not develop an unpleasant odor upon application to the skin. This ingredient activates the natural pigmentation process and increases the natural protective barrier. The more skin the melanin produces, the more the cells will protect against the harmful effects of UV rays and of free radicals, "said Dr. Katja Warnke, a NIVEA SUN sun protection expert.
NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze beach lotion, SPF 20, 30, 50
For intense, long-lasting tan, and beautiful and healthy skin, NIVEA also recommends NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze beach lotion, available in 20, 30 and 50 SPF variants. Its formula contains licorice extract, which helps the skin naturally obtain a uniform and long-lasting tan, without losing the protection against harmful UVA / UVB rays. The light texture absorbs immediately, leaving the skin soft and dry.

- NIVEA SUN Protect & Bronze Beach lotion SPF 30: 35.44 lei
