What to teach your little girl about what it means to be a mother

Being a mother is a wonderful and unique experience in life that you learn from walking when you "hit" her. Nobody knows what it is like to be a mother, but it is learned - with mountains of patience, love, but also through trust in the sixth sense: of motherhood.

It is difficult to imagine your daughter with only a few anisors in the position of mother, but you know that time will come and if you do not want to take her by surprise, you must help her little one to develop some essential skills that will help her cope from the first moment she will hold her baby in her arms!

There are several types of love

There will come a moment, not very far in the childhood of your little girl, in which she will ask you one of the questions that, at the moment, will block you: what is love? Be prepared to answer her as much as she can, without forgetting that, among the types of love that exist, the mother is also found. Give her some examples of what this love means, using your personal experience with her.

Intuition is a reliable ally

Teach your child to "sharpen" as much as possible the sense of intuition and learn to rely on it when it is in a deadlock. Confidence in one's own intuition in solving everyday problems, at school or in one's personal life, will help her get out of many tangles. And even if it does not prove to be the perfect solution, at least it will be done "with her hand", not influenced by anyone.

To be a mother you only learn partially from books, the rest lies in the ability to figure out solutions to problems in order to protect your baby.

Caring for the child is more than just fun and fun

You may be wondering how you could help a child with only a few anisors to understand what it really means to be a mother and what it means to care for the child. There are several ways you can help her understand that, beyond play, going out in the park and sweets, there are other responsibilities that moms have when they have children, through role-playing games, which helps you to exemplify the baby's washing, changing diapers and caring for dolls or imaginary situations. Also, if the girl has a younger brother, you can involve her in caring for her, in order to better understand the true role of the mother.

The inner beauty eclipses the outer beauty

Your little girl, like any young child or adolescent when she grows up, will probably define beauty through the outward appearance, the chosen clothes or the hairstyles or the makeup. But the most important thing is to help her see and understand how valuable the inner beauty of the soul is.

Even if when the mother is no longer able to pay so much attention to nails, hair or clothes, the inner beauty will be constantly "nourished" by the love that the child and others carry. The beauty of the soul is stimulated and guided by beautiful words, gentle words, affective gestures, declarations of love, caresses and kisses between you and the child.

Joy is in small things

When you are not the mother, you do not know how to appreciate the small things, because you do not feel on your skin what the satisfaction of the soul and the joy of seeing the smile of your child, of catching the first steps or of hearing the first "mother" said with such innocence and sincerity in his mind.

Even your little girl will not really appreciate them until she holds her baby in her arms for the first time. But it does not mean that you can not help her feel the satisfaction and joy of the simple things that happen to her and not put more price than she should on material things.

Teach her to appreciate a simple "thank you", a symbolic gift, a gentle gesture or the joy of helping a person in need.

The mother is always right

Even if at a young age, but especially in adolescence, it will revolt against measures that do not suit them - it is not allowed outside, it is not allowed to stay in the city after a certain time, it is not allowed to receive certain gadgets and you do not show yourself too docile with certain activities she is testing - the time will come when she will feel on her skin how it is not to be listened to, although she knows she is right.

The time will come when you will understand that the harsh penalties and rules you once imposed on them were playing their part. Unfortunately, at a young age, you cannot make her understand that "they are for her sake" only by pointing out exactly the possible dangers, consequences or ... simply letting her face them, where the repercussions are not serious.

Personal wishes and aspirations will be confused with that of the child

Your little girl will have many accessions of selfishness and narcissism, throughout her childhood, her desires and aspirations receiving in front of any pretensions of others. But when she becomes a mother, everything she wants for her will evaporate in front of the dreams and wishes that the child has.

The baby's dreams will become hers, and the wishes will be placed on a pedestal in front of all the family's wishes. And it will not be a sacrifice, as it seems it is, at first sight, but an unlimited love, which the mother is willing to transpose in any gesture.

She does not understand how to share love or ideals with someone when she is young, but you can learn to be generous, respectful to others and share her goods with them, no matter how small. It's a good life lesson for adulthood.

Confidence must be earned ... with much work

When you are a parent, you are more cautious than ever and you have no confidence at all, for fear that someone will somehow cheat your expectations and make you, but also the child, suffer.

It is important to help your little girl to be selective with the people she trusts, a virtue that is hard and hard to gain. It will avoid a lot of suffering, later, if you know how to trust only who deserves it.

What other things do you think your daughter should be taught about what it means to be a mother or about the qualities a parent must meet? Tell us your suggestions in the comments section below!

Avoiding common pregnancy discomforts when you're on the road

How can I relieve bloating, gas pain, and heartburn while traveling?

When you're on the road, it can be hard to maintain a healthy diet and a regular eating schedule. Chances are you'll be eating out more, eating on the run, resorting to fatty fast-food meals, and eating foods you're not used to.

Changes in time zones will shift your mealtimes. If you fly across country, you could find yourself eating supper at what would be midnight back home. As a result, travel can worsen the bloating, gas, and heartburn already common in pregnancy.

If you've been having tummy trouble during your pregnancy, you're likely to have it while traveling, but you can take steps to lessen potential problems.

  • Instead of eating three big meals, aim for several small meals throughout the day.
  • Take your time eating and chew thoroughly. Don't gulp your drinks.
  • Pack loose, comfortable clothing (nothing that's too tight around your waist or stomach).

Advice for avoiding gas:

Cut back on the foods that are most likely to cause gas. These include carbonated beverages, cabbage, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, leeks, onions, scallions, artichokes, dried fruit, pears, apples, honey, soda, fruit drinks, wheat, corn, potatoes, oat bran, beans, peas, and high-fat and fried foods.

Advice for avoiding heartburn:

Avoid foods and drinks that cause heartburn, such as alcohol (which you should avoid anyway during pregnancy); caffeine; chocolate; acidic foods like citrus fruits, tomatoes, mustard, and vinegar; processed meats; mint products; and spicy, highly seasoned, fried, or fatty foods.

Don't eat dinner too close to your bedtime. Give yourself two to three hours to digest before lying down. And try sleeping with your upper body propped up with several pillows.

Don't smoke – in addition to contributing to a host of serious health problems, smoking boosts stomach acidity. (Ideally, this is a habit you should break before getting pregnant. If you're still smoking and having trouble quitting, ask your caregiver for a referral to a smoking-cessation program.)

An over-the-counter antacid that contains magnesium or calcium may ease discomfort, but check with your prenatal caregiver before taking one, because some brands are high in sodium.

How can I relieve constipation?

If you suffer from constipation before you go on a trip, traveling can make it worse. Sitting for long stretches, changing your diet and mealtimes, not having a restroom readily available when you need one, not drinking enough fluids – all these can wreak havoc on your bowels. Try these tips to relieve or avoid the problem:

  • Bring high-fiber foods like bran cereal, whole-grain breads, fresh or dried fruit, and fresh vegetables to snack on.
  • Drink plenty of water. Getting enough fluids helps keep your digestive system moving. Prune juice can be particularly helpful. The Institute of Medicine recommends that pregnant women have about 10 8-ounces cups of water or other beverages each day. (Drink more if it's warm out or you're exercising.) Another way to ensure proper hydration is to monitor your urine color – if it's dark yellow or cloudy, you need to drink more.
  • Exercise. Take breaks to walk and stretch. At your destination, take advantage of hotel fitness centers and swimming pools or local facilities.
  • Your bowels are most likely to be active after meals so try to leave time to use the bathroom after you eat and before you head out.
  • Ask your healthcare provider about taking along an over-the-counter fiber supplement.
  • Ask your provider if the iron in your prenatal vitamin could be the culprit. High doses of iron – more than 30 milligrams (mg) – can cause constipation or make it worse. As long as you're not anemic, you should be able to take a supplement that contains 30 mg or less of iron.

How can I avoid fatigue?

It's normal to tire more easily when you're pregnant. Your body is working overtime to support your growing baby. The demands of traveling – along with jet lag from time zone changes and other disruptions to your schedule – will only add to your fatigue.

While you can still enjoy many of your favorite vacation activities, you may need to slow your usual pace, keep your schedule light, and give up the idea of seeing everything. Keep your plans as simple as possible, and think quality rather than quantity.

  • Take naps. An afternoon snooze is an especially good way to avoid exhaustion. At your destination, set aside time each day to lie down, close your eyes, and drift off. Even if you can't take a full-fledged nap, pausing periodically during the day to put your feet up can help.
  • Try to spend time outside in the daylight to help reset your biological clock to the new time zone.
  • Keep evening meals light and non-greasy to help ward off the gastrointestinal discomforts that can keep you up at night. Cut back on caffeine and make sure you're drinking enough water to stay well hydrated. To head off middle-of-the-night trips to the bathroom, though, avoid drinking anything two hours before bedtime.
  • Take a warm bath before bed to help you unwind and sleep more soundly.
  • Go to bed as close to your normal bedtime as you can, unless you've crossed at least three time zones. In that case, it's best to try to adjust your sleep schedule to local time to combat jet lag.
  • Lying on your side with a pillow between your knees is usually the most comfortable sleeping position for pregnant women. Keeping your upper body slightly elevated can help counteract heartburn, too.
