Planning a trip is a great job, especially if we are going to travel with children. A good destination to go with the family is Rome, a city full of history and fun for young and old in which you will enjoy these tips.

So that you do not suffer setbacks, here are some tips and useful information for your trip to Rome. We recommend the best time to travel, the clothes you will need or the emergency numbers.

Climate

The climate in Rome is typical of the Mediterranean area, with hot summers and rainy winters, while spring and autumn have average temperatures of around 20ºC.

The rain, although more common in certain months (March and April, and October and November) can surprise us at any time, so it is advisable to go equipped with waterproof clothing and umbrellas, and wellies for children.

At any time of the year there is a lot of humidity, a factor that should also be taken into account when packing.

What to wear in Rome

Given the climate we find in Rome, which is quite variable in spring and autumn, and in anticipation of long walks, the best option is that we wear comfortable and light clothing for the whole family, and put on several thin layers of clothing.

In winter you will need warm clothing, but at any time it is advisable to wear something warm, it can get cold, especially at night.

For the summer, on the other hand, do not forget breathable and fresh clothing, and a good cap to protect children from the sun.

Footwear in Rome is especially important, since we will often walk to visit its monuments, and in the case of children it is essential so that they do not get too tired that they are comfortable.

To prevent the rains, do not forget to always go equipped with umbrellas and raincoats.

Business hours

Most of the stores share the usual hours in Europe, which can be longer in tourist areas to attract a greater number of customers.

Generally, the stores are open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m., and from 3:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with hours only in the morning on Saturdays, and they are closed on Sundays.

Banks are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., although most do not open on Saturdays and many close in the afternoon, ending the day at 1:30 or 2:00 p.m.

Museums are closed on Mondays, the rest of the week their hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with some exceptions, so it is advisable to check before going.

Plugs and electricity

Electricity in Rome is 220 volts, 50 Hz, and round pin plugs are used. Before connecting any appliance, make sure the voltage and the shape of the plug are correct.

Nourishing Regenerating Honey Face, Sanoflore

The countryside slept under the snow. Christmas had planted icy stars in the black sky. Stunned by the warmth of his stable, Odilon absently chewed a few strands of soft straws, letting his eyes get lost on the outside.

  • - Okay darling ? asked his mother. - For a donkey, yes.
  • His dad, who was standing next to them, sighed. "Why do you always answer" for a donkey "when someone asks you a question, Odilon? Did you work well at school? For a donkey, yes. Did you have fun with your friends? For a donkey, yes. You're not happy to be a donkey? "" For a donkey, yes. A little…
  • His mother leaned over and whispered to her. "You're wrong. You are the most wonderful creature in the universe.
  • Odilon smiled, but his melancholy did not disappear. He was dreaming ... someone else, someone tall, someone noble. And on this New Year's Eve, he was eager to receive his present.
  • Evening fell, and Odilon, whose parents had gone out for a walk under the moon, lay down on his litter. He was so anxious to be the next day that he hastened to close his eyes.
  • He had scarcely fallen asleep when a hand shook him. He straightened his head. "Good evening, Odilon," said Santa Claus, seated next to him. "But ... but ..." Odilon mumbled. Is it already morning? "" No, otherwise I would not be here. I wanted to give you your gift very quickly.

Do you want to help a young mother? Don't do that!

Do you want to help a young mother? Don't do that! Two opposing tactics dominate: imposing your help by discrediting your parents or stepping into the shadows thinking that sooner or later they will "stop doing it". None of them are good in the long run. The basis is sensitivity, knowledge, empathy and a lot of goodwill. Help given to young parents can be received gratefully. It doesn't have to be a bear favor. See what mistakes to avoid.

Do not say that the child did not want to go home

Even if it's true ...

A child who is having fun outside the home usually does not want to interrupt the fun. It's natural. In this respect, it is little different from adults who are reluctant to give up their favorite activities. This does not mean, however, that a toddler who insists on staying outside does not love his parents, but only that he is having fun.

A child who is two or four years old is unlikely to say, "I miss my mother, but it's so great to stay here", but she cries, "I don't want to go home!" Let's still have fun! " There is no point in drawing too hasty conclusions from this. A few are not diplomatic. And commenting, with a significant smile on your face, that your child did not want to go home seems pointless. In addition, it can be misread if the relationship between parents and grandparents is not the best. Instead, just ensure everyone is having fun.

Do not comment that the child is crying at the sight of parents

Especially small children put in the care of someone from the family or babysitter, when the moment comes when the parent returns, often burst into tears. Sometimes, they don't want to come over to mom or dad for the first minutes, they shout and behave clearly disturbingly.

People who have looked after the child so far are often clearly surprised and unable to stop the wave of comments, saying "but he had so much fun before you came so well, and now he is crying, he didn't cry at all ... terrible! Why is he crying so much? He cried at your sight! ", Etc.

Comments of this type help nothing. First, they cause confusion. They make the child see a surprised or nervous person with whom he has stayed so far, an uncertain parent, and he himself feels lost.

Meanwhile, psychologists emphasize that crying at the sight of parents, with whom the toddler had to part ways earlier, is most natural. A child who until the return of his mother and father had to be with other people than his relatives, in this way he releases stress, throws out his emotions that he held in check when parents were not around. Just like adults in a bad mood, who more often cry in a well-known sleeve, pillow, or simply allow themselves to show their emotions only at home, in a well-known place.

Don't ask your child if they want to stay with you (until you agree with the parent)

A common mistake of grandparents is to ask a few-year-old if he wants to sleep with them without first consulting his parents. This is not a good solution. As long as the toddler is small, parents should decide about these types of issues. A better solution is to ask parents in the presence of a child, and the best one in four eyes, without the presence of a toddler. If the parents do not accept the offer for some reason, the child will not have to witness it.

Don't be late if you have an appointment

Punctuality is a virtue that increases when we become parents. Toddler because quite differently chooses the passing time. Five minutes is eternity for him ... When he is waiting for guests and they are late, he may look sad out of the window. It happens that he becomes cranky and nervous when the day does not look like the parents had previously informed. Therefore, it is very important for the child that what the parent said was true.

If your grandmother, grandfather or aunt, you arrange to take your child to dinner, do so. If you decide to be for an hour, and something makes you unable to drive your toddler to the appointed time, call and warn. Theoretically, this is the basics, but many grandparents forget about it. They explain it in this way that "you are at home anyway", "that you have not made an appointment", "that it makes no difference an hour or two." However, it is worth realizing that sticking to certain arrangements is a sign of respect for the other person.

If for some reason parents ask to appear at a given time, and grandparents or other guardians agree to it, it is worth teaching the toddler that the rules apply to everyone. This is a good lesson for a child who will not have a problem sending a text in a few years, asking if he can stay with a friend longer.

Nothing by force! Ask what help will be the best

Do not break out to wash the floor, because simply young parents do not have to bother that it is dirty. Do not decide that you will take the child with you, because sometimes a young mother, especially when breastfeeding, feels better if grandma takes care of the toddler at home for a moment. Just offer your help. Tact, kindness and being close are most advisable.

Of course, they should not be understood as unannounced visits or calls several times a day. All you have to do is ensure that you are close when you need it and offer help from time to time.
