Pregnancy and winter sports

Pregnancy and winter sports

For a healthy pregnancy, thirty minutes of daily exercise is recommended and cold weather is not a reason to disregard this recommendation.

Regular exercises are beneficial for muscle flexibility, good circulation and depression. However, many winter sports involve risks that make them a bad choice during pregnancy.

Safety rules

In general, most pregnant women can play sports as long as they stay well hydrated, avoid sudden starts and stops, do not overheat and prevent abdominal trauma.

Unfortunately, many winter sports do not allow the adoption of such basic measures.

After the first trimester, direct abdominal trauma or the impact of a sudden stop are dangerous for the baby. Abdominal impact, falls or jerking can lead to premature separation of the placenta from the uterine wall - a serious condition called abruptio. The fetus is well protected inside the womb during the first period of pregnancy, but the direct trauma to the abdomen does not bring anything good.

Body temperature

You also have some advantages if you are pregnant during the winter. First of all, your child acts as an internal heat generator that helps you maintain an optimal body temperature.

But the general rules regarding clothing should still be respected: dress in different clothes, but comfortable. Overheating is not indicated because it bothers you and hurts the child.

Joint injuries

During pregnancy your ligaments soften under the effect of a hormone called progesterone. Progesterone makes the ligaments more flexible, probably to help the pelvis open and allow the baby to pass.

On the other hand, this effect favors the risk of getting injured during athletic activities, especially during winter sports that involve a lot of physical effort. The arms, legs and back are the most exposed. Caution is the key to returning home without any injuries.

Sports that require balance (such as skating) can become surprisingly difficult during pregnancy even for the most skilled athletes. As your weight center moves forward, it becomes more and more difficult to maintain your balance.

Choose winter sports that you have practiced before and during which there is no danger of falling. Pay close attention to changes in your abilities as your shapes and weight change.

Recommended winter sports

Tips for each sport separately

1. Skating you can practice it if you are experienced and you will not fall. Now is not the time to learn to go with your back or perform double axle. If you can't keep your balance, it's time to stay away from the ice.

2. Skiing and snowboarding should be avoided by most pregnant women, especially in the second and third trimesters.

3. Date with sled, which often ends with falling from the sled at the end of the hill, is not a very good idea.

So what can you do this winter?

So far I mentioned sports that are not recommended during pregnancy, but do not despair, there are enough other safe winter activities for future mothers:

  • Outdoor sports. If there is no ice on the floor, it is okay to walk or run outside. You can play in the snow provided you are wearing proper footwear. Hiking on the mountain is safe, so if you enjoy riding the mountain you can take advantage!
  • Sports in closed spaces such as swimming in an indoor and heated pool are a good option at any time of the year. Low impact aerobic gymnastics is also a good choice. But, first of all, talk to your doctor to make sure you don't feel sorry for starting such a program.
  • Winter holidays they are an opportunity for great relaxation in the months of pregnancy if your financial resources allow you to do so. Go on vacation in a region with a warm climate where you can practice all the sports specific to the hot climate that does not involve risks!

And if this is not an option, book a weekend at home to take care of yourself and relax. Take a long warm bath, ask someone to massage you, light a few candles ... and dream of returning in the summer.

Allergies are the way in which the body, namely our immune system, fights against the factors it perceives as harmful to health. Substances in the atmosphere that we inhale or touch or those we ingest may be such factors.

The most affected by allergies are often children, precisely because they are more sensitive and their immune system needs time and evolution to reach the stage where it can adapt to all the things it is exposed to. For this reason, some allergies may improve over time or may even disappear as children grow older.

The most frequent such manifestations of their fragile bodies are allergic rhinitis or seasonal allergies. These are caused by inhalation or contact with the pollen of the flowers and manifests mainly at the end of spring and during summer.

In addition, cases of allergies caused by dust, contact with pets or administration of certain medicinal substances they are also quite common. They can even interlock in many cases.

What are the symptoms of allergies in children and how can a diagnosis be obtained?

Allergies are often manifested through sneezing, followed by aqueous mucus or even nasal congestion and conjunctival irritation. Tearing and itching of the eyes are common signs of allergies. In more severe cases, skin inflammation and irritation are also present, as well as redness of the skin.

Due to symptoms similar to those of viruses and respiratory infections, allergies can be confused at first stage with a common cold. However, if they become repetitive and there is a pattern of their repetition, an appointment is advised with the allergist, to confirm a correct diagnosis and to detect the causes of allergic symptoms.

The diagnosis is made most often by a very invasive method, which the children easily tolerate. This is the skin test, which involves the direct application on the skin of the substance presumed to be harmful and slight damage to the skin with the help of a sterile needle, by the doctor.

If the reaction involves inflammation and immediate irritation, the substance is confirmed as the cause of allergy. The skin test is not indicated for the verification of severe allergies, after which it can degenerate into an anaphylactic shock, as well as to people who consume certain medicines.

In such cases where skin testing is not a safe method, the allergist will recommend blood collection testing, which can be more painful and even more expensive than the first method, and laboratory tests may take several days.

Treatments for children's allergies

To improve the symptoms of nasal congestion, doctors recommend the use of drops and nasal sprays, which often have corticosteroids, meant to reduce inflammation and irritation of the nasal mucosa.

Besides these, antihistamines they are also recommended in many cases, because they reduce the frequency of sneezing and soothe inflammation. There are also vaccines for certain allergies, which are done subcutaneously or sublingually and whose effect can last between 3 and 5 years, depending on the case.

Doctors' recommendations

In addition to the administration of the specific treatments recommended, physicians impose a series of measures independent of the drugs administered. These include avoiding contact with allergens.

In the case of pollen, isolation during these periods may be a method of avoiding the onset of symptoms. As allergies can manifest due to several substances and dust is one of them, it is necessary to permanently clean the room of the allergic child.

Also, limiting contact with pets can be helpful when the allergy is caused by them. Factors that can worsen symptoms, such as cigarette smoke, should also be excluded from the life of the allergic child.

Is your child allergic? What precautionary measures have you taken? We look forward to your comments in the comments section below!

How to help a child make a family tree of his own family?

Your child brought home a new homework job: he is to make his family's family tree. It is worth participating in the joint performance of this task. It is a great opportunity for us to learn about our family history and to have the opportunity to talk about it with the child.

Why is it worth creating your own family tree?

We usually reach back to the past ourselves. Every day, we are not interested in the history and past of our family, what counts for us is the present and the future. Our family is us, our children and grandparents. Alternatively, great-grandparents whom we remember from childhood or stories from my mother and father. However, it is worth knowing the history of your family and your ancestors. Why?

Getting to know our past and the origin of the family is an important element of our sense of identity. Thanks to this, we know where we come from, what our roots are and what values have been important in our family for generations. Family tree also allows understanding why now we live in this and not another place. It is the life and decisions of our ancestors that determine what values we profess and how our lives go on today.

Therefore, it's worth spending some time helping your child do this homework to get to know themselves and their ancestors better. Get Ready!

Family tree - what is it and must it be a tree?

A family tree is a graphic representation of our family members and their family connections. It owes its name to its form: usually there is a person downstairs who makes a tree and creates his trunk with his parents. Further branches, i.e. grandparents, great-grandparents and great-grandparents form the crown of the family tree.

How far we reach into the past depends on our current knowledge and determination in acquiring it. It is usually difficult to reach more than two or three generations back without remembering to ask for information from older members of our family, or even to browse through parish books and other lists that contain basic information about our ancestors.

What data should be on the family tree and where to get this information?

We place on the chart basic data about our ancestors. These are the name, date of birth and date of death if the person is no longer among us. This amount of information is enough to create a transparent and aesthetically visual family tree for the needs of school homework. Do not put too much data on the tree, because it will be chaotic and illegible.

Of course, while creating a tree, it's worth making your work more pleasant, telling the child interesting stories about his ancestors. A lot of help in this task can be offered to us by our parents and grandparents, who are usually a treasury of this type of stories and will be happy to tell them to their grandson. Thanks to this, the names of the ancestors on the family tree will no longer be just names, but will "come alive" in the imagination of a child who will be aware that they were people with their own history.

Such curiosities will certainly also be appreciated by the teacher, which will result in a higher grade for the task that our child will receive. To make it easier for the child to associate selected people, it is worth placing symbols that are associated with the story next to them, e.g. if our great-grandfather worked in a mine, we can draw a pickaxe next to him, and if the great-grandmother came from another country, let's draw a symbol next to her he associates with our child.

How far into the past? If our child prepares homework, it is sufficient to put the information three generations back. So we give the child's and possibly his siblings' details, our data, grandparents from my mother and father and great grandparents from both sides.

How to make a visually aesthetic family tree?

When we have collected all the information about our ancestors, it's time to start preparing the tree. For this we will need a large piece of stiff Bristol in the color chosen by the child. For making a family tree it works best sheet in A3 or A2 format. Depending on how many people you want to put on the tree, choose smaller or larger.

If we have a scanner and family photos, let's choose photos of our family members, let's print them and stick them in the right places. However, if we do not have access to old photos, we leave the field blank, or the child can draw his great-grandmother or great-grandfather as he imagines them.
Under the photograph or drawing, the child writes the name of the person and the dates of his birth and death. If we do not know any of these data, put a question mark in its place. All family members we connect with colorful lines, which will illustrate the relationship. We can finish the whole thing drawing a large tree or decorate in any way.

Remember, however, that this child should take the largest part in the preparation of the tree, after all it is his homework. We can, at most, help and advise, but leave the final choice of colors and form of work to the child. Searching and immortalizing your own history on paper and learning about your ancestors is great fun, which will surely appeal to both the child and us.

"In the country, we were among the first to create an alternative living room," says dr. Chief physician of Fodor Jbnos. - Moms love to go out on a ball, hanging on a rib wall, and loungers are much more comfortable than baby beds. We can set it up in an upright position if the mother wants it. Fatherhood is also very popular. Of course, we had to get used to these shifts, because the work was going on so much, but it wasn't difficult. From injection through the body to epidural anesthesia, everything is available and can be used if desired. Cuttings are done in spineless anesthesia, but you can also choose anesthesia. The father is not allowed to enter the surgery, but he will receive the baby once it has been provided.
After a cesarean section, the mother remains in the guard and may be transferred to the rooming-in room on the third day. The reason for the close to 30 percent bittersweet is that we cater for the endangered pathologic burden of the county, and many of our premature babies. Unfortunately, our early childbirth class is not available yet, so the special needs dolls are delivered to Pecs.

The newborn ward belongs to the child ward, the baby's health is the responsibility of the professionals working there, the pediatric specialist is always available.
"We are encouraging moms to breastfeed on demand as they prepare," says dr. Andrea Major Major - We only deliver the babies if you have to. In the case of mild yawn, the mother's bedside is where the light treatment is. If we have to take care of the baby in the baby classroom, her mother can visit her at any time. I think it is very important for all mothers to learn how to milk, as it may be needed at any time. During medical treatment, babies are breastfed as soon as possible, but they are fed with breast milk from their mothers sooner.Facts, figures
  • The number of births in 2008 is 1122.
  • Ratio of cuttings: 29.6 percent.
  • One single, two double, and an alternate living room await the family.
