Cervical position and fertility
Cervical position may be a signal of when you are fertile. This predicts the onset of ovulation, ie the peak period of the month in which you are fit to conceive a baby. Also, it can also be considered a method of contraception, helping you to find out when the period when you are no longer fertile appears.
The cervix is the lower part of the uterus, and its position can provide useful information about when you are fertile.
During a menstrual cycle, a woman experiences two periods: one in which she is fertile and can conceive children (when ovulation occurs) and one in which she is infertile. Cervical position is a method to detect which of the two periods you are in.
In the first half of the menstrual cycle there is no ovulation, and the cervix has several features:
- it has a firm consistency;
- it is dry;
- it is closed;
- has a low position.
- Near ovulation, the cervix is transformed by obtaining other features:
- It's humid;
- it is open;
- it rises (creating the favorable environment for the fertilization of the egg).
How do you check the position of the cervix?
With your fingers, his position is easy to identify in the two periods. There are some rules to follow before this check:
- wash your hands well;
- the optimal time to do this is after the shower / bath;
- it does not introduce fingers that have high nails (in order not to hurt fragile tissue);
- there are several positions from which you can check the position of the cervix (stand on the toilet, on the stand or stand on the edge of the case and with one leg raised on the edge of it);
- do not insert more than two fingers and do it gently;
- start exploring in search of the cervix (you will need exercise to be able to accurately detect changes in the cervix);
- do not monitor your cervix position for very short periods of time, because you can easily injure it;
- if you don't feel comfortable doing this, you better not do it.
When you reach the cervix and find that it is closed, down and dry, unable to penetrate the inside, you can say that ovulation has not yet settled.
When the ovulation settles, the cervix becomes soft, and the penetration of the finger will be easy (the cervix widens) and you will feel an abundance of the cervical mucus (due to its moistening), and if you try to reach its highest point you will not succeed, because he stands up and prepares for conception.
