5 fishing inspired craft

Fishing inspired craft is a fun, creative and fun activity for the little ones, especially for the boys, who seem more interested in this "sport" than the little girls.

The creation, together with the children, of waves of toys, fishes, boats or other marine creatures gives you the opportunity to learn how to fish and some valuable information about the aquatic environment and its particularities.

Toy wave

The main instrument that any fisherman needs is the wave. Teach the chick to create a piece of toy from a few simple and handy tools: a bat, a hook and a piece of yarn.

All you have to do is tie the hook with a pretty long piece of yarn, then tie the other end of it to the top of the bat. This is the simplest piece of toys a preschooler can make.

Toy caves

The fishermen are the main "targets" that the fisherman watches as he throws his waves into the water. Since your little one is not yet of the right age to indulge in this sport, you can play by catching toy fish made by his clever hands.

There are plenty of materials from which the prick can make toy fish. It can be made of cardboard, plasticine or even socks. The cakes made from socks are much more interesting and creative, and the method is very simple: fill the sock with cotton and tie it as close to the end. Two buttons are sewn as eyeglasses and the fish is ready.

Toy creatures and marine animals

There are plenty of interesting and friendly marine life that your little one has the opportunity to discover through marine-inspired craft.

From shells, starfish, to colds and octopuses or jellyfish, the child has lots of ideas to choose from. Teach him to make these cute creatures out of cardboard or plasticine and accessorize them as he pleases.

Marine-inspired painting

The painting made of drawings and drawings with elements inspired by the aquatic environment is another nice craft with which the child can have fun during leisure time. Provide a cardboard piece more watercolor, watercolors, colored cardboard and all kinds of accessories to decorate the painting: buttons, glitter, beads etc.

Then, teach him to color the water with blue and draw some fish or marine vegetation. He can also create some fish from cardboard and stick them to the painting he works on. Certainly, the final product will be an exceptional one, ready to be framed and hung in his room.

Boat with canvas

Fishing boats are an important part of the whole set of fishing utensils and accessories. Creating some cardboard boats is an important piece of the whole set of fishing inspired decorations of the child.

This can be done, more simply, from the bottom of a rectangular cardboard box, which the child can color and accessorize. The canvas can be made from paper triangles glued to a stick, which is then glued in the middle of the boat.

If you do not want to make a sailboat, you can choose to create two jars of ice cream sticks or other pieces of cardboard.

Rubeola

Rubeola

What is rubella?

Rubella, also called German measles, measles or "three-day measles", is a childhood disease caused by a virus that manifests itself through a mild skin rash and inflammation of the lymph nodes. It has a different etiology than measles (measles) and is less severe than it, even if the symptoms are very similar, and the diseases are often confused with each other.

Learn to recognize the manifestations of rubella in your child and what are the appropriate therapeutic measures to quickly get rid of it!

Causes of rubella

German measles is a contagious disease, caused by the rubella virus, which is different from the one that triggers measles, which is very similar in terms of symptoms. The virus spreads from an infected person to a healthy one by air or by contact with objects infected by drops of fluids from sneezing, coughing, or nasal mucus.

If a child touches an infected object or speaks at a very short distance from a person who is infected with the rubella virus, he has every chance of getting infected and getting the disease. An infected person is contagious ten days before the eruption on the skin and 7-8 days thereafter. So, he can spread the disease before he even knows he has it.

Rubella is considered a mild infection, which does not pose major problems for the health of the child. He does the disease once, then becomes immune to this virus all his life. The disease does not predispose the child to serious health complications. At most, it can promote the appearance of an otitis media (ear infection). There is also the risk of inflammation of the brain (encephalitis), but only in extremely rare cases.

Symptoms of measles

The symptoms of rubella are often so mild that many parents almost do not even notice them. These appear about 2-3 weeks after exposure to the virus. The disease is active around 2-3 days, during which the child may present the following signals:

mild fever (up to 38.9 degrees Celsius);

• easy rhinorrhea;

• headaches;

• red and inflamed eyes;

• inflammation of the lymph nodes from the base of the head, behind the neck and ears;

• a mild, pinkish rash that begins on the face and spreads rapidly on the abdomen, hands and feet; the papules disappear in the same order in which they appeared.

Rubella treatment

Chickpea is not treated with antibiotics or other drugs because it is a viral infection. In the absence of complications, the rubella heals itself, without any form of treatment, only with outpatient care to relieve the symptoms, where appropriate.

It is advisable to carefully monitor the fever of the child and to take measures only if it increases greatly, in which case antipyretics, acetaminophen or ibuprofen will be given, but only at the doctor's recommendation. Aspirin is never given to children because of the risk of Reye syndrome, a disease that can be fatal.

In most cases, the symptoms of the disease are so mild that there is no need for any therapeutic measure, medical or otherwise. The baby should just rest as much as possible, consume plenty of fluids and be quarantined for about a week from the time of the eruption, to avoid spreading the virus to healthy people.

Prevention of German measles

Rubella is a childhood disease that can be prevented by immunization. It involves the administration of a vaccine, called MMR, which contains, in the same composition, and immunization against two other common diseases: measles and mumps.

Immunization is done in two stages, corresponding to the administration of two doses - once at the age of 3 months or 3 months and a half, and the second around the age of 4-6 years, but never later than 12 years.

Has your child made rubella so far? How did it manifest? Did you suffer from complications or quickly overcome this mild infection? Tell us your suggestions and tips in the comments section below!

6 everyday ideas to educate children in surprise and amazement

6 everyday ideas to educate children in surprise and amazement

Astonishment and surprise are emotions that arise when we meet or something unexpected happens to us. In addition, they are two very important emotions for the development and learning of children. It is the mission of the parents educate children in surprise and amazement to stimulate their children's curiosity and desire to learn. But how can we do it?

But is surprise an emotion? Indeed, we could also talk about the fact that it is the shortest of all, the one that lasts the least. And it is that sometimes suddenly appears and disappears just as quickly.

On the other hand, surprise can be considered to be a neutral emotion, since leads to another negative or positive emotion. If, for example, I am walking down the street and when I turn a corner I run into a friend that I haven't seen for a long time, my reaction will be first of surprise and then joy, however, if I find a lion around the corner, the reaction after surprise will be fear.

Surprise activates us and makes us react depending on the emotion in which it derives. If I am surprised by something unexpected but positive (suddenly water starts to come out of the ground) my reaction may be curiosity, of approach (how has it happened?) But if I am surprised by some danger, as in the case of the lion, my reaction is flight. In both cases, being surprised has led me to react in a certain way.

We are amazed when we see something for the first time, when things happen to us that we did not expectWhen we learn something or manage to do something that we thought was very difficult, when something out of the ordinary happens. Even when they tell us something we didn't expect to hear.

Astonishment and surprise are closely linked to curiosity and the desire to learn. Surprise enables attention to be activated, exploration and research behaviors appear, and directs our cognitive processes (memory, concentration, attention ...) to the situation that has arisen.

When children are very young and begin to discover the world, everything is new and surprise comes easily. For example, when they begin to make the first sounds they surprise themselves, and they surprise others, who react to those sounds, and that leads them to continue making those noises that later will give rise to language.

Or when a child asks himself questions about the world (why do birds fly, why is it raining down ...) he is being amazed by his surroundings, wonder that will lead to questions and new learnings. We cannot forget that emotion plays a very important role in learning.

The pedagogue María Montessori emphasized the importance of amazement in children's learning, since the engine of children's motivation is amazement. As stated by Catherin L'Ecuyer (2012), author of the book 'Educar en el amador', the child's ability to think about impossible things is wonderful, therefore, amazement is an innate mechanism in him.

Parents, teachers and professors play a very important role in children's ability to wonder. On many occasions it depends on our actions whether the child maintains that innate curiosity or loses it. We live in a world that goes so fast at times, and is so charged with stimuli, that children do not have time to stop and observe the world around them, there is no time to get bored and ask questions and when they are asked, many times it is the adults' responses that cut off that innate curiosity.

It is true that there are children more curious than others, but all are curious by nature and it is important to respect that nature, which involves respecting the development rhythms of each child and their learning styles. It is also important to regain calm in children's lives, without forgetting something very important, don't give them everything done.

Therefore, the role of the adults around the child is fundamental, accompanying them in their growth, providing environments that facilitate discovery.

Some ideas or tips to introduce wonder into our lives can be:

1. Respect the evolutionary rhythms of each child and their times
But above all respect the child in his way of being and learning.

2. Avoid stimulus overload
The excess of sensory stimuli that surround us can saturate children and prevent them from stopping to think. For example, when I smell something for the first time, that smell makes me stop, close my eyes, look for the source of the aroma ... However, if I am surrounded by smells, sounds or images, there is no opportunity to stop. questions about them. Therefore, try not to overstimulate children and offer quiet moments to children.

3. Encourage curiosity in children
Children, especially when they are young, do not stop asking and asking about the world (why do chickens lay eggs ?, why do stars shine ?, why, why, why?).

Faced with these questions, parents often give closed or too rational answers, to satisfy all curiosity and at once. But if instead of responding directly to them, we use these questions so that children look for the answers, we facilitate and promote that curiosity, key to learning in children.

4. Provide playtime for children
And this game must be creative, free and unstructured, that is, let them play at their own pace, with simple materials, leaving the imagination free.

In addition, we can propose different games to children with which to work on emotions such as surprise. For example, in 'Educational Proposal to Work on Basic Emotions in Early Childhood Education' (by Naia Armesto for the International University of La Rioja, Spain) they suggest a fun game that consists of telling children that, from a distant planet, some messages have arrived that we must decipher. These messages are, to say the least, surprising. An ingenious way for children to be surprised and understand what the emotion of surprise means.

5. Promote reading
Books, in addition to being a source of knowledge, are an open door to surprise, to imagination ... We can play at reading books and change the ending or encourage our children to write their own stories.

6. Accompany the children
Ultimately, it is about accompanying children in their own way of discovering the world, seeing with their eyes and giving them the opportunity to discover the world for themselves.

"Admission" to kindergarten, more than medicine

The madness of enrollment in kindergarten began. With all the heartbreaking projects "launched on the water" by the education minister, Mihail Hardau, parents are obliged to make waiting lists, such as the "famous meat lists" from the "golden age". Phones, interventions at all levels, consistent gifts, promises of sponsorships, stormed doors, the whole arsenal of batteries, knowledge and relationships is thrown to the beat for a place in the precious kindergartens.

Preschool education is facing the biggest crisis of places for children. If until two years ago they were expelled from education, due to the lack of a preschool population, and the kindergartens were barely drawing their souls to survive, that is, now, since the importance of enrolling the child in the group preparing for the first class was taken into account, - they have changed, and Minister Hardau still proves helpless in the face of this situation.

More specifically, nothing was done. The projects run with weight, the money comes with the peasant, and the children, between the ages of 3-7 years, remain in the care of the grandparents. At the country level, the crisis of places in kindergartens is over 50,000.
"At the beginning of this school year, in Bucharest alone, the deficit of places was 10,000. For the following school year we expected a lack of 12,000 places. At the 148 also existing educational units, we were forced to make groups of 35 -40 children. It is impossible for an educator to work in such conditions and, first of all, there is the risk of illnesses. Moreover, with this situation we are facing week by week. The school inspectorate of Bucharest has made all kinds of notices and at the ministry, and at the mayors, at least to raise awareness of the law enforcement bodies. What happens in kindergartens is crazy, "said Marian Banu, director of image at the School Inspectorate of Bucharest.
"Too few have thought that alignment of education with European standards should begin with this segment of education. Projects for European kindergartens must be made. Children can no longer sleep in the same classrooms as they eat. To save time and not to. to spend so much money, the system must be rethought, because there are many unused spaces and land around the current buildings that can be arranged in spaces intended for the educational process, as happened in two such units in sector 3. As things stand, only after 15 years we can talk about a solution of the situation ".
